China Securities Journal reported on 5/24: OERLIKON - the world's major thin film PV equipment manufacturers- announced in Shanghai. The capacity of “Thin Fab” production line of silicon-based thin-film modules is 120MW. Large-scale production conversion efficiency has reached 10%; this way will make the component costs per watt price reduce to 0.50 euros or less. The company said: thin-film PV in the next three years will likely break PV sales market share of 20%. In addition, the country's major PV demand subsidy policy, will determine the needs of the industry trends. Solar’s sales of Oerlikon-China are up to 70%~80% of total turnover. Currently, the use of Oerlikon thin film silicon device module production capacity reached 450MW.   

      Nowadays, the Chinese PV manufacturers supply is more than half of the global photovoltaic cells and modules. All the major manufacturers of photovoltaic equipment tailor the layout of China as the primary center. PV industry is divided into two: crystalline silicon cells and thin-film batteries. The thin film solar cell is divided into: a silicon film (a-Si), copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) and (CdTe).    

      The Solar Buzz - Photovoltaic research institutions reports: In 2011, crystalline silicon equipment investment (including silicon ingots, wafers, cells and components) increased by approximately 31%; film equipment investment increased by up to 71%. Among them, the silicon thin film CIGS investment and the fastest growing, accounting for planned plant expansion thin-film technology market is about 78%. However, Solar Buzz also proposed: Regulation of thin-film devices is relatively low base as a whole.   

      As at the end of 2010, thin-film photovoltaic PV market is approaching 15% of the world. Along with the global polysilicon price is falling to $ 50 to $80 / kg, （original price is $ 400 / kg）. The investment passion in thin film PV market has continued to decline. In the end of June last year, Suntech Power – world largest PV module manufacturers- announced a full cessation of thin-film photovoltaic investment plans.
